Folkvangr Press acquires rights to Manglorious the Valgarian

PITTSBURGH, PA — September 11, 2012 — Folkvangr Press today announced that it has acquired the rights to H.G Patrick's seminal barbarian fantasy series, Manglorious the Valgarian, as part of its SLAMtasy!™ Fantasy for Men line of fantasy and science fiction novels.

"It's a thrill to be working on one of the greatest fantasy series of all time," said SLAMtasy!™ line editor David White. "As a child in the '80s, I used to check out Manglorious the Valgarian novels from the public library until my mother started paying attention to the cover art and got them banned. The adventures of Manglorious and his companions really taught me what it means to be a man — how to stand up for what you believe in, command respect from your friends, and put women in their place. And that's what SLAMtasy!™ is all about."

Though perhaps not as famous as some of his other barbarian brethren due to confusing rights issues and a spotty publication history, Manglorious has a long and distinguished pedigree that dates back to the Golden Age of Fantasy and beyond. It's lurid covers, thrilling masculine adventures and ultraviolent prose captivated generations of fantasy fans while earning condemnation from feminists and moral crusaders alike. Folkvangr Press is proud to bring Manglorious into the 21st Century.

Folkvangr Press intends to reprint classic Manglorious tales from every era in print and digital formats, many of which have not seen the light of day since their original publication. They will also add new novels to the series, the first since the original Manglorious series ended in the late 1990s. More details will be released in the weeks to come.
